What can a tummy tuck address?
It can remove excess abdominal skin and fat and may repair separated muscles. It is not a weight-loss treatment and cannot remove every stretch mark.
Who may be a candidate?
Your surgeon considers your health, weight stability, smoking status and expectations. An examination helps determine whether a tummy tuck or another approach is appropriate for you.
Will there be a scar?
A tummy tuck leaves a scar. We discuss the planned incision, healing and the trade-off between skin removal and scarring during your consultation.
What should I expect during recovery?
You receive individual guidance on wound care, activity, follow-up and returning to work. Compression garments or drains may be recommended. Recovery varies with the procedure and your health; do not plan around a guaranteed timeline.
What risks should I understand?
Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collections, poor healing, changes in sensation, blood clots, anesthesia complications and unfavorable scarring. Additional surgery may be needed. Your surgeon discusses your individual risks and alternatives.
How can pregnancy or weight changes affect the result?
Future pregnancy or significant weight changes may alter your result. Discuss those plans before deciding when to have surgery.
What does the consultation cost?
The $50 consultation fee is collected when scheduling and credited toward surgery if you proceed. We discuss surgical costs after reviewing your needs.
